Website Design & Build

I design and build clear, accessible WordPress websites for charities, schools, safeguarding organisations, community groups, and small businesses.

Each website is planned around your organisation’s goals, audiences, and capacity, not around templates or unnecessary features. The focus is on clarity, accessibility, and long-term usefulness, so your website is easy to understand, simple to manage, and reliable over time.

Whether you need a straightforward one-page website or a larger multi-page build, the aim is the same: to create a website that supports your work without adding technical stress.

What I Focus On

Every website is designed to be clear, accessible, and practical for both the people visiting the site and the people managing it day to day.

Rather than starting with templates or technical features, the focus is on understanding your organisation, your audiences, and what the website needs to do. From there, decisions are made carefully so the site stays useful, manageable, and reliable over time.

Clarity first

Websites should make sense quickly. Structure, navigation, and content are planned so visitors can find what they need without confusion or unnecessary complexity.

Accessibility built in

Accessibility is considered from the start, not added as an afterthought. Websites are built to work across devices and assistive technologies, helping ensure content is usable by as many people as possible.

Designed for real teams

Many organisations don’t have in-house technical staff. Content is structured so updates are straightforward, and the website remains usable even as staff roles or responsibilities change.

Long-term usefulness

The aim isn’t just a successful launch. Websites are designed to be stable, secure, and adaptable, so they continue to support your organisation as it grows or evolves.

Types of Websites I Build

I work on a range of WordPress websites, depending on your organisation’s needs, size, and capacity. The aim is always to build something that fits your situation and not something larger or more complex than you actually need.

One-page websites

For simple or early-stage projects that need a clear, professional online presence without unnecessary complexity.

Small brochure websites (typically 5–7 pages)

For organisations that need to explain who they are, what they do, and how people can get in touch or engage

Larger multi-page websites

For organisations that need to explain who they are, what they do, and how people can get in touch or engage.

Donation, booking, or e-commerce websites

For organisations that need to accept donations, bookings, payments, or manage products or events online.

A practical approach

Not every organisation needs a large or complex website. Part of the process is helping you decide what level of website actually makes sense that is based on your goals, content, and internal capacity.

If your needs change over time, the website can be adapted and expanded rather than rebuilt from scratch.

How Website Projects Usually Work

Website projects are approached in a structured but flexible way, so you always know what’s happening and what to expect next. The process is designed to feel manageable, even if you’re not used to working on digital projects.
1.
Initial conversation
Most projects start with a short, informal conversation to understand your organisation, your audiences, and what you need the website to do. You don’t need to have everything figured out, the aim is simply to get clear on where you are now and what needs to improve.
2.
Planning and structure
From there, a clear plan is put in place covering the website structure, key pages, content priorities, and a realistic timeline. This stage focuses on clarity and usability, so the website makes sense to both visitors and your internal team.
3.
Design and build
The website is then designed and built using WordPress, with accessibility, performance, and ease of use considered throughout. Progress is shared as the build develops, and feedback is incorporated so there are no surprises at the end.
4.
Review and launch
Before launch, everything is checked carefully including layout, content, accessibility basics, and functionality. Once you’re happy, the website is launched and made live.
5.
Handover and support
After launch, you’re not left on your own. Guidance is provided so you can manage content confidently, and ongoing support is available through Care Plans or one-off help if needed.

Typical Project Starting Points

Every website project is different, but having a rough idea of cost can be helpful when planning and budgeting.

Website projects are scoped carefully based on your organisation’s needs, content, and complexity all with the aim of building something that’s appropriate and sustainable, rather than over-engineered.

Indicative starting points

  • One-page websites typically start from £850

  • Multi-page websites typically start from £1,500

Larger or more complex websites such as those with multiple audiences, advanced forms, integrations, or e-commerce are scoped individually based on what’s required.

A note on pricing

These figures are intended as a guide rather than a fixed menu. Part of the initial conversation is helping you work out what level of website makes sense for your organisation and your budget.

If you’re unsure where your project might sit, that’s completely fine, we can talk it through before any decisions are made.

What Happens After Launch

Launching a website isn’t the end of the process. After your site goes live, support is available to help you feel confident managing it and to make sure everything continues to work as it should.

You’ll be given clear guidance on how to update content and make day-to-day changes. If questions come up, or something doesn’t behave as expected, help is available without you needing to troubleshoot things yourself.

Ongoing support options

Some organisations are happy managing their website with occasional help, while others prefer ongoing support so they don’t have to worry about updates, security, or maintenance.

Support after launch can include:

  • Ongoing maintenance and security updates

  • Regular backups and monitoring

  • Help with content changes or adjustments

  • Advice as your website or organisation evolves

For organisations that want consistent, dependable support, dedicated Website Care Plans are available. These provide peace of mind and ensure your website stays secure, reliable, and up to date over time.
